By 1890 the landscape painter Eduard Marsh had become less a colleague to his students than a subject they studied: they copied his brushwork stroke for stroke and repeated his remarks about color as though the remarks were doctrine. His biographer Nell Okonjo argues that the movement was damaged not by the notice it received from the public but by the its members directed at one man, since no painter in Marsh's circle would ask whether a technique still worked once the subject had changed.
しかし本文は "not by the notice it received from the public" と、公衆からの注目を空所の内容から明確に切り離しています。
not by the notice it received from the public" と矛盾するうえ、批判力を失わせるほどの崇拝という含みもありません。

Before a new vaccine reaches pharmacies in most countries, it must pass a regulatory board whose members neither conduct the trials nor celebrate their results; they decide only whether the evidence submitted meets a published standard. A manufacturer that wins the board's has not been told that its product is admirable, merely that it may now be sold.
本文は "has not been told that its product is admirable" と、称えられたわけではないと明言しており、栄誉を授ける場面ではありません。
approbation 委員会がするのは "whether the evidence submitted meets a published standard" の判定だけで、結果は "it may now be sold"(販売してよい)という可否の承認です。

Ballads collected from farm laborers had no standing in 1760; printers treated them as rustic curiosities when they printed them at all. The anthologists of the following decade therefore made a pointed choice when they set the poems in the expensive quarto format reserved for Latin verse and listed them beside Homer in the table of contents. Their aim was to a form that possessed none of Homer's rank, not simply to say admiring things about it in a preface.
本文は "not simply to say admiring things about it in a preface" と、言葉による称賛をはっきり排除しています。

The Perreau Observatory has been recording the same stretch of sky from the same hilltop since 1804, and its instruments now sit two generations behind those of the national facilities built in the 1990s. Astronomers nevertheless speak of the place with a warmth its present output cannot explain. What moves them is the unbroken run of measurements and the dome under which nearly every technique in the field was tried for the first time.
